Fox News Anchor Chris Wallace called former special counsel Robert Muellers testimony a disaster for Democrats on Wednesday.
Wallaces comments come as Mueller testifies before two House committees over his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and potential obstruction of justice by President Trump.
The Fox News Sunday host told anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum the hearing has been a disaster for the Democrats and the reputation of Mueller, saying the former FBI director "doesn't seem to know things that are in the report."
Mueller's testimony has been marked by stuttering and regularly asking committee members to repeat their questions. At one point, Mueller, referring to Trump, called him "Trimp." Oftentimes he looked confused and was slow to react.
Calling into account Mueller's performance, Wallace questioned the level of his involvement in the investigation.
"I think it does raise questions about the degree to which he actually was in charge of and in control of this report because he doesnt seem very much in control or charge of what the final report was, I should say whether he was in charge of the investigation because he doesnt seem in charge of what the report actually says," he added. Wallace supported his claim by citing Mueller's failure to defend himself and the integrity of his investigation.
"Hes been attacked a number of times and you would think that almost anybody else would have defended his own integrity, the integrity of the investigation," Wallace continued. "Over and over, Mueller just sits silent and lets the attacks from the Republicans to sweep over him and says nothing."
The president himself tweeted Wallace's remarks decrying the reputation of Mueller.

Mueller's sad performance is far from over. He is set to testify in front of the House Intelligence Committee today as well.

.
I am convinced that the questions were rehearsed and any answer given by RM was ignored. It was all about getting the narrative into the Congressional Record and on tape for the press.
I watched about an hour over lunch break. I lost count of the number of times that a very leading question was asked, RM responded with something like “I wouldn’t characterize it that way.”, and then the questioning person proceeded with the next question as if RM had agreed with them. As I said, RM’s answers were of no importance.
They are shameless. I have to remember that.
Dammit I wanted to get in before the “Wallas is an idiot” idiots...
That’s as likely to happen as me learning to juggle flaming chainsaws while skateboarding.
In all probability, Mueller didn’t write the report; Weissman did.
When you’ve lost mushy rino Dem apologist Chris Wallace.....
You’ve pretty much lost...
I would say that no one expected the Republicans to tear into him as they did.
I like this Republican party much better than the one we had with W.
Did ANY Republican ask Mueller if he met with ANY Democrats leading up to this hearing and if they discussed anything pertaining to it? If not, why not?
That’s what I saw - the charade didn’t do anything good for Mueller or the “Thank you so much for your service to the country we hate you Reagan era hero, you!” Dems.
The Repubs asked enough of the right questions and made enough of the right statements to totally trash the Dems’ “This will make impeachment a sure thing” fest....
Nothing the 2nd. Amendment wouldn’t fix.
He’s the same smug, smirking imperious liberal sh!t his old man was.
Don’t bet on it. The Dems are just regrouping. They’ll be back in The White House at some point and then the ball will open.
That’s what the Whig party thought.
When an issue divides the party, as anti slavery did the Whig party, history changes course.
In many ways, historical political patterns of the early to mid 1800’s are repeating with the current parties.
Very much agree. The fall of USA is expected.
