But those parents should have considered less expensive alternatives.
My kid wanted to study “film” at an “Art School” where the loan sharks sold him $50k in debt, while he floundered around, switching majors.
He hated taking freshman requirements— English & Math— so kept dropping & retaking, wasting time & accruing more debt.
If a cosigner had been required, he couldn’t have gotten any loans at all, because hubby & I would have Just Said No & packed him off to Media Studies at community college, $50 per unit, payable out of pocket.
