The US designed a weapon for a similar scenario. When faced with an overwhelming force of tanks in Germany the US deployed tactical nukes and threatened to build and deploy neutron warheads.

You are right, that is large. However under the circumstances, it should be increased to about 150 miles just to get the point across and eliminate the congestion..
