The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a big beautiful wall.
...
all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement.
The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.
The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trumps two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.
...
Army Corps of Engineers moved faster on replacement projects than the new ones because the approval process for environmental and zoning permits was far less extensive than areas of the border with no barrier.
...
Roughly 700 miles of the 2,000-mile border has some sort of barrier as a result of the Secure Fence Act
....
300 miles of barrier is Normandy style, or a handful of steel beams fastened together to prevent vehicular traffic from getting by. However, the four-foot-tall fence does not prevent people from crossing.

Anna Giaritelli is the homeland security reporter for the Washington Examiner can’t hold a job.
If so, and I suspect it is, disappointing performance. Very disappointing for all the drama surrounding it to this point.
Good summary. Thanks.
The border is 1,954 miles long. I accidentally wrote 2,900 when I should have written 1,900.
You wrote “How much has been completed so far? Hard to say, but maybe 100 miles with another 100 scheduled by end of this year and several hundred more next year.”
I wonder why President Trump doesn’t issue a quarterly report card with precise numbers and listing of quarterly accomplishments. That would dispel all the mysteries about what’s actually happening on the border. Businesses issue quarterly report cards like that all the time. I would think improved communications with his supporters would be a great help.
Total and utter BS post
“His entire organization, his family, are held hostage by the deep state.”
In your Deep State dreams, you reveal yourself by your own words
The only new fence done by We Build the Wall, at most one mile on bad terrain that Army Corp refused to build on.
Awful quiet after their fundraising a month ago. How many miles around Laredo TX can they build with their new money. Stay in the 5th circuit to block the lawsuits.
45 miles (Santa Teresa port of entry to Columbus port of entry in NM) being blocked by 9th ckt injunction. Small miles in urban areas around Yuma AZ and Calexico CA blocked as well.
I believe those urban walls are new so maybe 60 to 70 miles are pending resolution by Supreme Court where deliberations starting this week.
The only funding that was allocated was to replace existing fencing. So Trump is using that money first before using the money from the emergency declaration which I think it is still tied up in court. So what is the problem?
Plus the existing fencing, as little as there is, was placed where it was Most needed. So Trump is putting New fencing where it is most needed. What is the problem with that?
‘We build the wall did’
If you are unhappy with the pace of government construction projects, you can choose the private sector.
Send them a donation so they can build more.
It is.
Paul Ryan was, and is, a traitor.
Then vote republican.
Please dont be one of those schizo followers of Ann Coulter and vote Democrat because you were ‘betrayed’
YIKES!!!!
It’s even worse that I remember.
deport, don’t do that to me again...OK????
Only on the margins. The job of Congress is to appropriate money. Congress refused to fund the wall, even when Republicans were in complete charge. Cant scapegoat dems for GOPe leadership.
Wouldn't matter if the President would stop saying at every rally that the wall is being built. Everyone that matters already knows that the deep state is trying to destroy him. Ryan and Mitch both postponed any vote on the wall until after the mid-term they are the scum of the earth as far as I am concerned. I hope they join that other hero soon.
I see this cr@p posted here so often it makes me sick. Wanting the wall built is not a crime and will not cause a single Freeper to vote democratic, but some of us realize that a lot of crossover votes helped out the President but they likely will not do so again after the Dems point out the utter failure to build the wall.
Well, there ya go!
From the pic is your post #32 it sure looks like Anna ate ALL the spaghetti and pizza at the buffet.
Just another example of why, today, our country's "best and brightest" would have qualified as "ignorant and utterly moronic" 60-to-70 years ago...
Even the Dutch knew that when the dike is leaking like a sieve, you plug the holes below the water line... The others, above the water line, can be handled later...
