The US needs an alternative to Erdogen...
Maybe letting Turkey get F35s would damage their capabilities more than sending them after more reliable Russian planes? They can get a lot more planes and keep them flying at less than the ruinous cost of F35s.
Another regime change or just a puny election meddling?
Regardless, you dont want Russian radar technicians getting refular practice painting the F-35 with the S-400 radars. And thats the main issue.
A non-Islamic reset...
They have plenty of opportunities since Israel is an operator and in close proximity. Although I agree that these two systems in hands of one military are somehow compromising and more so for airplane.
Settling for the Russian jets is like settling for a Hyundai when the Ferrari falls through
We need to kick Turkey out of NATO and remove our military hardware from their country. Having Turkey in NATO is like having a fire bug on the fire commission. Besides, in the scheme of things today, I don’t think Turkey is an asset we need to protect our interests. And as far as Europe is concerned, I’d vote to let all those worthless fair weather friends shift for themselves, and save the money we spend protecting their a$$es. Let them all rally round Frau Merkel and the Krauts and see how things turn out.
Rooskie anti air missiles. Rooskie air craft. That should rule them out of NATO, I’d think.
The recent election of a mayor for Istanbul who represents the younger voters and is not strongly Islamic like Erdowan is an interesting development and sign that Erdowan’s power is slipping. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the next year.
Not really. Turkey is a lot like US in that sense. Big cities are liberal and the country is more conservative. The difference is religious component of their conservatism is not Christianity unlike in US.
Sure, they are going to manufacture their own.
Their GDP is less than $1 trillion.
The Lira has lost 40% of it’s worth, etc, etc etc.
They also do not posess the manufacturing capabilities nor the technologies to produce anything worthwhile .
They can’t

In fact less than 1 trillion GDP is heavyweight. Turkey is by any standard is a more advanced country than it might appear at first sight. And it is quite self-reliant.
Time for the Mosad to take out this guy.
The entire known world including Greenland, Ecuador, Burundi, the Seychelles and even Togo would LOVE to face a Turkish built fighter.
In fact they built F-16s.
Not on their own.
