The bank bailouts of 2007/2008 were projected to add several years to the average American’s work life; we are watching it unfold now. I see it with several co-workers, neighbors, etc..

Israel doesn’t need its best ally to be weakened

That , MY FRiend, is the purpose of the Left. To destroy Israel. The Left is a huge organization made up of smaller organizations. Each with its own agenda, working on a larger agenda.

Their main goal is the destruction of Israel. However they know that in order to destroy Israel, they first must destroy the United States of America. At this point in time they are concentrating on destroying the United States from within. Look around you. Unfortunately, they are succeeding.

They don’t even need to take your retirement accounts; they’ll just prorate your Social Security to adjust for your careful planning (penalizing you). If you recall the parable of the ants and the grasshoppers (where the former carefully stored food while the latter played around instead, and later went hungry), just imagine the grasshoppers controlling the government - the ants would end up with nothing.

Just to be clear, if I'm reading this correctly, Congress is NOT taking anybody's IRA. They are only accelerating the withdrawal schedule for certain beneficiaries of certain IRAs.

The people still get to keep the funds and can reinvest them in after-tax accounts, but they will have to pay the deferred taxes sooner.

Is this the correct understanding?

We must understand that 401(k)s and IRAs are deferred tax accounts; the taxes must be paid at some point. It sounds like they are not changing the rules for the direct owner or spouse of the deferred-tax accounts. They are only changing the rules for heirs, requiring them to divest the accounts more quickly and pay the taxes sooner.

I knew a number of years ago that there was no way the Fed was going to allow all the money that the Boomers had invested to used in retirement with even a modest interest rate. The government of the people and by the people can’t be trusted to look out for the people. Keep your guns oiled and your powder dry.

Well, *I* have enough VOTES to liquidate and hide all of my assets!

I suggest others plan accordingly. :)

War has been nearly a constant state of affairs since the founding of the Republic. The nose bleed runaway debt levels are recent. The massive debt doesn’t come from wars. It comes from social spending.

They’re part of it. $7 trillion on our Mideast wars. I agree with Trump that it was a disastrous waste

I think you’re clutching your pearls too tightly. With the Senate in GOP hands, and Trump as President, the House RATs are just pissing into the wind with this legislation.

You can’t be serious. What right does the government have to take away wealth from a person’s family just because he dies? It’s like the estate tax which I believe is a sin and everyone that’s ever voted for it should burn in hell for it.
