ESPN honchos reminded staffers on Friday that on-air talent should avoid stories considered pure politics after Dan Le Batard slammed President Trump and his own "cowardly" network for not allowing employees to speak out.
Le Batard, whose parents are exiles from Cuba, called Wednesdays Trump rally "deeply offensive" because the crowd targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn, with chants of send her back.
ESPN allows its personalities to discuss politics when they cross with sports, such as players skipping White House visits and athletes kneeling during the national anthem. Employees, including Le Batard himself, were notified that the policy hasnt changed and strictly political stories dont have a place at the iconic sports network under current leadership.
Ironically, employees were reminded about the policy because Le Batard ripped it on his ESPN platform.

He’s got an appropriate name.
They should have fired him....
ESPN is headed for the trash heap....Fox Sports will be the new leader..
If they stay out of politics
Leftists ruin everything, they’ve pretty much ruined sports.
It’s just CYA from ESPN corporate. ESPN radio is still filled with race baiting nonsense from the likes of Steven A. Smith.
Le Retard .... I would not call him a star. Of anything.
ESPN is still on the air?
Current ESPN President Jim Pitaro, who saw the mess left behind by former President John Skipper, quickly imposed severe limits on the politics that were allowed on ESPN platforms.
This idiot’s father immigrated here from Cuba to escape the same kind of communism Omar wants to inflict about this country.
It seems Keith Olbermann has some competition for the title of World’s Worst Employee.
Yes, “Stephen A” can be a blowhard at times talking about sports, but interestingly he’s not as political on-air as people think, mostly because he knows he’s a major asset to the company. He saw what happened to Michael Smith and Jemelle Hill and wanted to avoid that type of controversy.
“Fat Le Batard”...
Skipper can say whatever he wants. ESPN is still off the rails hardcore leftist and the company has done nothing to stop it.
Was Keith Olberdork at ESPN when Skipper was CEO?
They sure dont waste any time firing the Conservatives (eg. Schilling, Knight, Holtz)
Another reason to cut your cables and use Sling Blue TV as your provider.
Sling Blue TV does not carry ESPN, ABC nor Disney, so none of your $29/month fee goes to pay bastards like Le Batard!
Dan Le Batard .... nope, too easy. ESPN is a cancer.
May I say it?
Delete if necessary.
Needs a slight re-spelling.
So he "ripped" his own company's policy on the air? I'd fire his ass. Is he such a big deal that he is untouchable? (I confess I have never heard of him). Sounds like Olbermann 2.0.
