CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The controversial “send her back” crowd chant at President Donald Trump’s North Carolina rally may have gotten all the headlines, but some Christians are grumbling over something most of the media completely ignored. ... Other critics of the president’s language have been less polite than Hardesty. A commenter on FreeRepublic.com accused the president of “blaspheming” and “mocking” God and warned of sure retribution.

Agree. I noted that too. We like that he feels comfortable in front of his audience and says what he thinks - this just will not sit well with some, it is too casual.

I support Trump. I don’t support the president swearing in speeches, especially using the lords name in vain. I guess at 70 he’s too old to clean up his style but wish he’d try.

I am with you. I excised the phrase from my vocabulary many years ago and politely and privately ask friends to not use it in my company.

However I am not about to stop supporting the best president we have seen in over 30 years over it. The poster referred to by the article was way over the top.

Indeed, only those who do not know God deign to fear Him. The strength of President Trump is his favor with God, would hate to have him fritter that away.

Correct - that is why they are doing it - The media and leftists in general are the worst blasphemers there are out there. This is how the Devil works, quick to condemn and slow to forgive (#metoo fallout).

That being said, using the Lord's name in vain is a mortal sin objectively speaking and I don't care how many Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Policeman, Fireman, Doctors, etc... do it - it is wrong. Don't squabble with me, squabble with the Lord about it. There is a reason it is a commandment. The Lord's name is Holy, is it not?

Matthew 15:11 - "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man: but what cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

The President should just ask God for forgiveness and not do it again. We all slip and do it in the heat of the moment or what have you.

“well, there’s another Freeper that never served in the Marines”.

I’ve heard Marines use the f word. Does that mean it would be ok for our politicians to use it in their speeches and rallies?

some Christians are grumbling

I'd much prefer to fight the socialists with an atheist by my side than any of these crackpots.

Exactly. It’s about not claiming that YOU speak for God in order to serve your own vanity. It’s amazing how many people still have a 4th grade interpretation of this.

So now we know that the enemy watches FR for agitprop.

Methinks content access should somehow be limited to registered users to help prevent this in future.

MSN is pushing it so more “papers” are carrying it. It’ll be a thing until the next thing is a thing. Gotta drive that wedge between Trump and his base, dontchaknow?

I've noticed the compromised media are shamelessly trying to get Stormy Daniels back into the news by claiming the FBI found Trump was involved in hush money payments to her. This is a transparent attempt to alienate his religious conservative support.

Excerpt from THE RATlONAL BIBLE: EXODUS By Dennis Prager

For one thing, the word “God” is not God’s name. So, saying something like “God, did I have a tough day today” does not violate this commandment. “God” is God’s title. But God’s name is YHVH (we do not know exactly how it is pronounced, and Jews refrain from pronouncing it). It is this name (in the Hebrew original) we are forbidden to say in vain.

But the ultimate, and far more important, reason this sin is unforgiveable is due to something else, which can only be understood if we translate the verb of this command- ment literally. Do not “take” is not what the commandment actually says. The Hebrew verb in the commandment, tisa, means “carry.” The commandment therefore reads, “Do not carry God’s name in vain.”

And who carries God’s name in vain? Any person who claims to be acting in God’s name while doing the opposite of what God wants—evil. Obvious modern examples would include Islamist terrorists who shout, Allahu Akbar (“God Is the Greatest”) when they murder innocent people; or a priest or any other clergy who, utilizing the respect engen- dered by his clerical status, molests a child. There is little question Islamist terrorists and molesting clergy have both played a role in the rise of atheism in our time.

When any person commits evil, it reflects badly on the person. But when a person commits evil in God’s name, it reflects badly on God as well. The result is the only solution to evil—God-based morality—is thoroughly undermined. When associated with evil, God and ethical monotheism are thoroughly discredited. And that is unforgivable, as it dra- matically reduces the chances of creating a good world.

No atheist activist is nearly as effective in alienating people from God and religion as are evil “religious” people. As noted, the Hebrew word y’nakeh (“hold guiltless”) literally means “cleanse.” Essentially God is saying if any- one dirties God’s name, God will never cleanse that person’s name.

This is a terrible rationalization of an objectvitly mortal sin. All of history is against your argument.

As noted by Dennis Prager, the original Hebrew is translated as "you will not carry"; that is, we are commanded that we cannot do evil in God's name.

Looks like the muslims missed that one!

Amen, we need to pray for our President as well as ourselves and the hypocrites in the media pointing this out.

Reagan was in his 70s and never swore in his speeches. I support Trumps policies - and vote for him - but wish he would clean up some of his style.
