A 29-year-old Austin woman accused of leaving her newborn baby in a dumpster pleaded guilty Tuesday as part of a plea deal and was sentenced to five years of probation.
In October 2017, Althea Johnson, who was 27 at the time, was accused of leaving her newborn baby in a dumpster near her home at the Mira Vista Apartments. A homeless man who was dumpster diving heard the infant’s crying and found her among the trash. The placenta was still attached to the baby and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Upon recovering, she was released to family members.

Apparently attempted very late term abortion is just hunky dory these days.
If a man did that, he would have gotten 35 years. It’s the truth.
All she needed to do was go to New York or any other state that allows doctors to leave newborns to die. Well, what’s the difference? The doctor throws the baby in a trash barrel marked “medical waste,” or the mother throws the baby in a dumpster marked “Recycle Bin”? Eh? No difference at all!
Exactly what I was thinking. Disgusting. Prayers up for that child.
All she needed to do was keep her legs together or make the guy wear a condom. Simple enough to take the baby to the fire station.

Austin legal priorities: She would receive a much harsher sentence had she been smoking when she left the baby to die.
Wrong charge; should have been practicing medicine without a license.
Well....Gee!....She should have dumped the baby in a hospital delivery room trashcan. If the baby died of exposure there it would have been OK.

Some women just can’t keep their legs together, or take a pill or get an IUD because it is so much easier to kill a baby these days.
Some men had rather make deposits in as many banks in the city as they can rather than put on a condom.
In California, you can leave a baby at a fire station or hospital, no questions asked. And yet this kind of abandonment still happens here. There are some evil/stupid/addicted people among us.

Women murder their children in the society and get no punishment. When this one leaves her child to die, she get virtually no punishment. We have a biases and sexist society and legal system.

IF the baby daddy had dumped the child in the dumpster, he’d be incarcerated for life. Her, hardly a slap on the wrist.
