New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been left stranded in Australia after her air force jet broke down.
Stuff.co.nz reported Ms Ardern and her former TV fisherman husband Clarke Gayford will fly home on a commercial jet on Friday evening.
....
The New Zealand Defence Force said that the dignitaries' aircraft had suffered a 'failure of its air data computer'.
A replacement part will be shipped to Australia on Saturday, a statement said, but Ms Ardern was expected to return home on a commercial flight tonight.
During her time in Melbourne, Ms Ardern confronted Mr Morrison about the Australian government's policy of deporting Kiwi criminals back to NZ.
New Zealanders who moved to Australia as toddlers, only to grow up and commit crimes, have been regularly dumped back over the Tasman Sea.
Australia has deported 4000 people, including 1500 New Zealanders, since new laws were introduced in 2014.
Ms Ardern said the policy isn't 'fair dinkum' and said she will not be letting the issue go.

LOL
I think they are talking about the Flight Data Recorder.
Australia is a wonderful place to visit. We have been 3x. You spend next to no time in the cities so the politics is irrelevant.
Instead you walk among sea lions on a beach, take boat rides in the Northern Territories where Jesus birds walk the water & sea eagles will swoop in and take food scraps from a floating seat cushion. Lots of chances to see crocodiles. In the Northern Territory there is a ranch 2hrs by car or 30min by plane from the nearest main road(plane from Darwin). There the lizards fight & carry on from the netting that is your roof and water buffalo munch the vegetation at the edge of the water 20 yds away. Wallabies hop onto the landing of the steps to your cabin and gorgeous water lilies are in bloom on that same water when you take a boat ride. There are gourmet meals and one of the hands will teach those interested to crack a rope. In the NT there are crocodile jumperoo cruises and an aborigine museum.
Outside of Brisbane the Atherton Tablelands are a different natural beauty and in Daintree you can take a boat ride on the Daintree River at Dusk & and sunset and see not only the diverse wildlife but the bats fly out over your heads at dusk to forage and back to their roosts at sunrise.
There are lots of great places to meet Animals, like Australia’s zoo where we met echidnas, dingos, koalas, and many more animals. Kangaroo Island has Paul’s place where you can nurse a bush baby infant, feed termites to echidnas, feed rheas, all animals were rescues. The Gold Coast has amusement parks cheek to jowl with nature centers. Kangaroos line up for food in dominance order & there are impromptu boxing matches at the wildlife center.
If you are so inclined there is lots of skydiving, hang gliding, paragliding and other action activities. It is cheaper & more accessible than in USA because the informed consents protect the companies that offer these activities.
NZ is also nice to visit, with it’s own unique pleasure but the politics there intrudes a little more.
Australia must keep our Kiwi criminals!
I hunt. Bears and mountain lions dont creep me out. Gators are mostly innocuous (mostly not always). Its poison things that get to me.
Ive come into close contact with rattlers
twice. The fact that something crawling underfoot that God decided to equip with poison filled hypodermic needles bothers me. I give them a wide berth
if I can. I tend to shoot first and ask questions later if they are too close to where I live my life.
Ive heard of black widow spiders all my life. Never saw one though.
Most species of snakes in North America are non poisonous. Most snakes in Australia ARE poisonous. Weird how that works.
I tend to take take to the wild here from Fall through early spring when its cool. No snakes or bugs in the cold weather. Ive seen Bears while hunting. Wasnt hunting them so I watched them and enjoyed the view.
Good times.
That’s not STRANDED.
This is the thing that seized innocent peoples’ guns, wore a headscarf, and showed her love for m*zzies.
Australia is a country that keeps you on your toes but the Aussies have adapted. There are jugs of vinegar at all the beaches to rub on jelly fish stings & counteract their venom. There are common plants to crush & rub on ant stings.
The platypus is very elusive. In the Atherton tablelands there are tours where one of the stops is a look out over a stream where the platypuses are known to live. You watch for 20-30 minutes and are rewarded by seeing them amble down to the water to swim. In Darwin there is a platypus exhibit, I believe at the aquarium downtown where you can see them more easily. Platypus venom is used on rival males at mating season so visitor are safe unless...
Been there. Its called Uluru as a nod to the aborigines but you or anyone can call it Ayers Rock still. Mt Everest has a local Nepalese name too.Its considered sacred by them as well. Ayers Rock that is but I imagine Everest is also. The nearby formation called the Olgas also has some aboriginal name but Olgas is easier to say. :)
Do have one of these.
Australia's gun laws are a long way from good, but they are not as bad as they often get painted in America. You have to get the right licences, but those of us who care, have done that.
If it’s the flight data recorder or similar, it is internationally illegal to fly an aircraft so equipped without a functioning one these days, as I understand it.
Should also be mentioned that with a lot of recent airliner refits with glass cockpits, no computer = you’re not going anywhere.
Naturally, going back on a commercial flight is not an option for her.
Actually to be fair, it is - that’s what she’s done. Flown back on an Air New Zealand flight this evening.
Oh, the horrors of having to fly commercial.
One of my Australian friends is a guy named Gideon Polya whom I actually like, but with whom I disagree completely on his climate and anti-capitalism stances and would probably disagree more if I bothered to read more of what he wrote. My point being that his attitudes seem to be indicative of the thought in Australia today.
Wait.. as the article points out, Australia is shipping back Kiwi criminals. All Ms. Arden has to do is go out and commit some crime, and Australia will fly her back for free.
Problem solved.
You would think so but the Left in this country claimed Dubya was literally Hitler. Now Trump is literally Hitler. In fact, any and everybody who disagrees with them is literally Hitler.
Its not working anymore with most of us. Theyve played the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, backward, stupid, inbred, knuckle dragging, bitter clingers to guns and religion, basket of deplorables cards so often theyre all dog eared and tattered and no longer work.
Good thing theyre so open and tolerant though. Otherwise people might start thinking they were the ones consumed with hate all the time.
Like the Kiwi, flightless.
How about her plea for Australia to end the deportations? I assume it falls on deaf ears.
I'll try another image:
It's almost impossible to own an automatic weapon in Australia, and difficult to own most 'military style' semi-automatics. But that can be done (and I've done it), and owning basic semi-autos that aren't seen as military style is even easier.
Our gun laws aren't good - but people do navigate them when it matters to them.
