Charity run by wife of Elijah Cummings incurs new ethics complaint
Washington Examiner ^ | 7/16/19 | Alana Goodman

A watchdog group is asking the Maryland attorney general to investigate whether Rep. Elijah Cummings and his wife used a charity for improper self-enrichment, according to a copy of the complaint obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, which leans conservative, filed the complaint on Monday against the Center for Global Policy Solutions, a nonprofit organization founded by Cummings’ wife, Maya Rockeymoore.

The complaint asked Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh to investigate the financial relationship between the Center for Global Policy Solutions and Rockeymoore’s for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC.

The similarly named entities shared an address, phone number, projects, funding sources, and had a cost-sharing arrangement that raises questions about a “potentially improper financial benefit to Ms. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and her husband, Representative Elijah Cummings,” the complaint asserts.

Cummings? Of course he’s corrupt to the core. It’s probably just the tip of a giant iceberg of graft.

Here's an idea: Pass a law whereby no company, or for-profit or non-profit Agency can receive Federal contracts - or grants - IF a spouse, child, parent, or any other immediate relation of a politician is either an employee of, on the Board of Directors, or a founder/owner of said Company or Agency.

I would bet that most Federal contracts are awarded to insiders. The corruption runs deep.

Hard to believe Cummings and Mark Meadows are best buds in private life. That relationship, got tested lately when Cummings’ committee attempted to paint Meadows as a racist simply because he was white. Cummings was letting it happen...didn’t say a word. Meadows got audibly upset and called Cummings out for not saying anything and proudly proclaimed his mixed race family’s friendly relationship with Cummings’ family in a bid to prove his non- racist credentials. Cummings reluctantly attempted to rephrase the other committee members’ accusation of Meadows being racist to what Meadows had stated was a racist statement. Simply because he was white he should’ve remained silent. Meadows took it. What a putz.

"any other immediate relation of a politician"

How can you get a law like this passed when the people who legislate these laws are the ones who would lose their retirement funding? Bentleys, condos in walled Florida compounds, Taittinger, Crytal, Waygu steak for the rest of their lives is not cheap, and congressional retirement is chump change.

How many lifetime congress scum retire as millionaires, from "book deals"?

Great idea. That would not even require a law........Trump can isue an "official no-no"........that no company, for-profit or n/p can receive Federal contracts - or grants - IF a spouse, child, parent, or any other immediate relation of a politician is either an employee of, on the Board of Directors, or a founder/owner of said Company or Agency.

In late May, the National Legal and Policy Center filed an IRS complaint against Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, who is the wife of Elijah Cummings.

The Complaint describes a score of apparent Internal Revenue Code violations, including prohibited private benefit and inurement of the Cummings.

The Cummings’ group has received millions in grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and, in late 2017, was granted a million-dollar contract from the General Services Administration. The funds were purportedly provided to fight childhood obesity.

The Complaint asks the IRS to investigate whether “its organizers are getting fat off the grants.”

At the same time she heads CGPS, Mrs. Cummings heads a for-profit consulting firm called Global Policy Solutions, LLC, whose operations appear to have been indistinguishable from those of CGPS. The two entities have shared office space, telephones, etc., all of which are flagrant violations of the Internal Revenue Code.

Financial Documents Reveal Cummings’ Wife’s Companies Had Over $250,000 in Overlapping Business

**SNIP**

Documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show that Rockeymoore Cummings’ for-profit consulting firm, Global Policy Solutions LLC, was paid more than $250,000 by her charity, the Center for Global Policy Solutions.

The Daily Caller notes that between 2013 and 2015, the charity paid Rockeymoore Cummings’ for-profit firm “management fees” totaling more than $250,000. Additionally, the nonprofit and for-profit entities had a cost-sharing contract highlighting their joint property, as the two entities are housed at the same address

**SNIP**

Although the NLPC’s complaint was focused on Rockeymoore Cummings’ 2017 business transactions and the congressman’s potential influence, Anderson believes the documents obtained by the Daily Caller from 2013 to 2015 show the same illegal behavior.

I've been wondering what happened to the original complaint? The article briefly mentions it:That's all the article says about the previous complaint.

Now this article says there's a new complaint. Maybe the Maryland AG will be more aggressive in investigating this new complaint.

I just shared this article on Facebook with the following header:

Good Morning Boys & Girls!
This article will explain in very simple words how the #DeepStateSwamp gets rich in Washington!
For those short on time I will explain it is 4 easy steps.

1. Start an Non-Profit & a Profit Company with similar names.
2. The Lobbyist write a check to the non-profit (Not audible by IRS)
3. Deposit in the For Profit account (non tax-able, since it doesn't show up on an invoice to anyone)
4. Transfer monies from For Profit account to offshore account (see Caymen Islands)

There you have it - How to become a RICH WASHINGTON SWAMP CREATURE.

That doesn’t solve the problem. These non-profits run by corrupt politicians work like this: the non-profit receives “donations” (read bribes) from individuals, organization, companies, and even foreign nations seeking to influence the politician. The non-profit “charity” contracts for management and other services to a for profit company wholly owned by the politicians spouse, children, or other relatives, as a corporation who pay said relatives a hefty salary for minimal, if any work, while the stockholder receives huge profit poss-through. The charity makes minimal effort to actually fulfill its charter purpose, say 5% of spending to its avowed beneficial purpose, but has large overhead for “fundraising,” and office expense, and “consulting fees.”

No government contracts or grants need muddy up the waters. . . The Clinton Foundation was this plan writ large, er humungous.

Maryland Attorney General Fag Brian Frosh is only interested in prosecuting Donald Trump, his family, his associates and his policies. After all, that’s what the feeble-minded who voted for him want.
