PAUL OF PERSIA: Rand Paul Emerges as President Trump’s New Peacekeeping Force in Iran
BLP ^ | Jul 17, 2019 | Shane Trejo

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) recently proposed to President Donald Trump that he should take a larger role in negotiating with Iran during a golf outing, a notion that Trump apparently supports, in order to prevent another endless war from starting in the Middle East.

Paul wants to sit down with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in order to ease tensions with the Islamic Republic, which has been confirmed by four U.S. officials according to Politico. This news has enraged the neocon war hawks in the Trump administration, who want a wedge to remain between the two nations preventing any talks.

Proud that @realDonaldTrump and I argued with you against endless wars! @POTUS made it clear to all of us at the table, we are getting out of the Middle East quagmire. We’ve been there too long. Time to bring our troops home. https://t.co/trO0aIHbzk

— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) July 15, 2019

Zarif is in New York City this week for meetings at the headquarters of the United Nations. He is scheduled to meet with several journalists and think-tank officials, but a meeting with the junior Kentucky Senator may also be in order. Zarif made it clear in recent statements that Iran is not opposed to engaging the the U.S. in peace talks.

I would like to see an air offensive and an armed rebel group that wants NOTHING to do with Iran the way it is now.

But things often seem to spiral out of control.

I dunno.

Aren’t there other countries with boots who Iran is a bigger threat to?

I DO KNOW NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND!!

I trust Trump.

We don’t need another war right now and he is doing pretty well with N. Korea.

Rand is a good choice for this.

Trump understands that keeping the pressure on Iran will force them to the table. We should not go talking until they are ready to back down. Paul would continue the same path of blah blah blah with no results.

Let somebody else pay the blood and treasure and get the bad press, we’ve been paying all the costs and everyone else has been taking all the benefits since WWII.

This might end up like N. Korea and that would be great.

Trump under stands that offering the olive branch in one hand and the sword in the other gets results, that’s why he is working with Rand on this.

You can’t go wrong with GOD as an example:

Isaiah 5:25

“Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.”

King James Version (KJV)

I think it’s great!

If Paul can ease tensions, fine.
If he can’t... that’s fine too.

His motive is impeccable. He’s patriotic.

I didn’t even realize Iran played golf.

Compared to neocon megalomaniacs, Rand is patriotic & harmless.

Nothing “disastrous” here
Paul has his chance, if he can get something, fine.
If he can’t that’s fine too.

I am told that Trump having Bolton around is good because you need an attack dog to scare the enemy with.

It works the same way backwards, you need a dove like Rand to entice them to negotiate.

Trust Trump.

I’d say he was already steaming mad about being sent to Mongolia while Trump offered an olive branch to Kim.

He’s probably boiling mad now.
