If I had to choose the single most malignant politician in American history Teddy would win hands-down. For moral turpitude the abandonment of Mary Joe Kopechne is impossible to top. His legacy included John Effin’ Kerry, who might have given him a run in the malignancy sweepstakes, turning his back on Vietnam POWs as well as the country in general, corruption, and a profound and complete ignorance of the people he felt he was ruling.
