The San Diego City Council voted six to two Monday for an ordinance saying gun owners must lock up their firearms or disable them in the home. Fox 5 reports that the councils six Democrat members all voted for the gun control, which is designed to force firearms to be locked up or be disabled even if no minors are present in the home.
ABC 10 reports that gun owners cannot legally store their firearms in just any lockbox, but they must be in a Department of Justice-approved lockbox. No indication was given for how much a DOJ approved lockbox will cost.

Exactly! My bedside gun has the safety on. Therefore it will not fire and is effectively disabled.

I'm missing something. At what point can they be unlocked/ enabled; or does this mean that guns can never be used in a "home"?That is their, the San Diego City Council's, point. They do not want,or desire the law abiding citizens of San Diego to be able to use a gun, unless it is a paper weight or doorstop period. Heaven forbid that they use one to defend their lives. However, this is only a stop gap measure. Their goal is the total and complete disarming of the citizens so that they will be unable to defend themselves effectively when the antifa mobs along with the Latin and muslim hoards are released upon them. And if some of the citizens should be bold enough to attempt to defend themselves against the mobs, tho police will handle that a/l/a Portland, Oregon.

Your house now must be approved by the Department of Justice, according to these idiots.

Come on over and try to get into my house to check on my weapons. Might not be pretty if I lived in SD.

No, they are evil and power hungry. Sick is when one is ill with a medical condition or problem.

You are correct. And they won’t even try to enforce it. They will just arrest you when you use it to defend yourself. That is its purpose.

Heller already established that this is unconstitutional. This is exactly what Washington DC had on its books which the Supreme Court struck down.

UnconstitutionalHey, so is any requirement for a license or permit by any locality, city or state, but since when has that stopped them?
It is time for THOSE WHO GAVE THE ORDERS to have "accidents" or just disappear.

they will arrest you and take your guns, while letting the violent intruder keep his.Using yours effectively means that the intruder will no longer need his.

Meanwhile theirs is not. So if someone breaks in and you shoot them dead you could go to jail because even though you have a gun they cannot confiscate they want you to disable it so the perps can have their way with you and your family
That's where the "shovel and shut up" part comes in.

“Fascist.”
Why is this fascist? Seriously. It is stupid, illogical, and blatantly unconstitutional, but fascist? I ask because
the current trend across the political spectrum is to use labels indiscriminately for shock value or out of ignorance.

I thought San Diego was fairly conservative...................."Was" is the operative word in that sentence.

The sheer genius of some politicians:
City Councilwoman Jennifer Campbell, a longtime family physician, said she supported the ordinance due to the caliber of weapons currently available to the public and because guns are too easy for children to access in many homes.

***The San Diego City Council voted six to two***
So, with the vote of six people, 1.42 MILLION people lose their right to self defense?
They have made their law, now lets see them enforce it.

Department of Justice-approved lockbox.
Rest assured some manufacturer who has ties to the SIX will now make an “approved” lock box, and force gun owners to buy it.
