I say the news cycle would have been about Trump’s super buddy Epstein and how Trump’s Whitehouse is in disarray. Whether the President tweets or not, the enemedia is not going to cover much of what is actually happening that is beneficial to the President’s agenda.

If Trump was silent till 2020 the MSM would continue to pillory him esch and every day.
The fight between Pelosi and the Squad had the potential to turn into the "Sister Souljah" moment for the Dems. It would have enabled Pelosi and the Dems to break with the Squad in the minds of the public, thereby making Pelosi, etc.. look more moderate. It was going to help them in 2020.
Trump basically forced the Dems to back/minimize all the offensive things members of the squad have been saying about the country, etc.. Because if they try to distance themselves from the comments Trump is attacking, they'll look like they're siding with Trump over the Squad, and they can't do that.
Forcing the Democrats to unite around the Squad was brilliant.
