Her political sense is usually better than this, but she chose poorly. Perhaps under fear that her Speakership could be challenged if she did not - just a wild guess. But you know she can read and knows how unpopular the Squad is, so why burn political capital instead of just swatting them down?
I’ll give them this: AOC has become the policy thought leader of the Democrat party in just 6 months and it sure looks like the Squad has done a hostile takeover of House Leadership, even thought they haven’t been elected to anything.

I think the entire RAT party is somewhat taken aback by (what they perceive as) Cortez's popularity. They know full well communism is a destructive philosophy, but because it's going mainstream, they'll do it.
