Is that a real rule? Often is but a variation of the word 'oft'.
But knowing English as I do - rules are "offen" random and arbitrary..
Carol Blymire is obviously not a FR regular or within 20 seconds of having her spelling error pointed out, she would have begun calling her boss a Grammar Nazi.
I pray she doesn’t leave a suicide note unless she spell checks first. That’s the LAST thing you want to be remembered for
“GOOD BUY CRULE WORLD”
In this narcissist’s case, dumbster will work. B’s can be just as sneaky as p’s.
GOOD BUY CRULE WORLD
That would be “whirled” as in “envision whirled peas”.
Just an observation...
Voluntarily severed
Yeah, she’s a moran.
As a child she found her Hamster dead in the Hamper and was scarred for life.
Yeah, and she overheard a lot of color and nuance, too. Pretty amazing, huh?
my niece pronounced the word Sweater as Sweather well into adult hood, and became angry when corrected. she even yelled at my sister for not correcting her sooner.
I would have just said...
“Let me spell THIS out for you. Clean out your desk and get out.”
LOL! You win.
Too funny!
There’s a beautiful town near me in Texas called New Braunfels.
Easy to pronounce. NEW BRON FULLS.
I can’t tell you how many people call it New Bronze fulls.
Arggh.
Some years ago, I was interviewing people for an opening at my company. I interviewed about a half a dozen people, made a choice, and extended an offer. The candidates who weren’t hired got a standard form letter (thanks for your interest, will keep your resume on file, etc.)
One young lady’s mother called me and asked why I had not hired her daughter. I told her I couldn’t discuss that with anyone but her daughter, but our policy was to hire the candidate whose skills and experience best matched our requirements. Mom was very upset and asked me how her daughter was supposed to get any experience if no one hired her.
I told her that her daughter could call me and schedule a meeting and we could do a post-mortem on the interview and go over her resume and see where she could, perhaps, edit it to make it stronger for this type of work. I thought that was very nice of me...
No joy. Mom just wanted me to dump the person I had hired and give her daughter the job.
At that point I ended the call. The daughter never took me up on my offer. I wonder if Mom even told her about it.
I remember that call to this day!
Yep. Hearsay at best. Somebody is looking for clicks. Movin’ on...
At one time, that was considered the most annoying web page on the internet.
Great memories of a more innocent time.
There is always Boerne...
