Gustaf can remember the precise date when he last used cash. 'It was October 7 last year,' he told me without hesitancy.
'I found an old note that I had forgotten about and used it to buy some sweets.'
Like many others at his university in Gothenburg, Sweden, Gustaf relies on cards and smartphones to spend money. 'None of us use cash – you just don't need it these days,' he said.

But there is one problem – a big one. The 20-year-old computer science student keeps losing his bank cards, along with others that swipe open electronic locks for his apartment, gym and lecture halls. 'I laugh about it but it is very inconvenient.'
So he plans to get a tiny microchip, scarcely bigger than a grain of rice, injected into his hand which he says will make life easier as well as being 'cool and futuristic' – following the lead of at least 4,000 other Swedes as their country hurtles into a brave new world without hard cash.
They have chips inserted under their skin – usually above the thumb – to pay for their coffees and bus and train travel, waving a hand across payment machines as if using a contactless card.

About three years ago, my mother (RIP) was shocked when one of her doctors wouldn’t accept cash. I’m not even sure that’s legal.

Yes, I had tried to make a cash deposit 20 years ago. Hundreds mostly. The bank acted all stupid (branch of my regular bank). I had clients in my SUV waiting on me, as this dragged out. Finally I said give me my cash back, I’ll drop it my regular branch.
Bunch of morons.
I miss the days of $1,000 bills and $500 bills. Of course I don’t have any money these days so I miss the days of $100 bills and $20 bills, to be honest. But those are still around of course, LOL.

The only time I use cash is to buy an occasional $1 Lottery ticket.
Checks? Same story.
My apartment building suddenly decided not to accept credit card rent payments anymore, so I write a check now.
Before that, I had not written check in almost five years.
Before that, the last two checks I wrote were to renew my Passport and my Drivers License, because almost no government agencies accept cards, or, they did not accept them five years ago, anyway.
Unless a person is doing something illegal or embarrassing, I have no idea why they carry cash, in the USA, anyway.
My local marijuana store is cash only, but so far I have not bought any, partly because it was really hard to stop smoking it 30 years ago, and partly because holding smoke inside your lungs cannot be good for your long term health.
I find cash great for shopping, still. Fast food, grocery store.
But it’s rare when I have any substantial amount of it anymore.
People are just now figuring this out?
Not just freezing your money, but if you have the cool chip in your hand, charging you 25% more for stuff because your Facebook Social Score is poor.
Paper money is anonymous. Chips are corruptible.
It is the forerunner to the Mark. Those who read their Bibles understand that the beast causes (forces) the receiving of the Mark by stopping buying or selling without it. Also the taking of the Mark is a sign of those who worship the beast. It seems that those taking the Mark will understand that it means submission to the man and the system.
