I had no idea this bit of technology was so recent, heck we were on the moon and still using sticks and string to measure stuff?

Then there was the 8080 microprocesser...

Actually, the 4004 preceded the 8080, and was available in the early '70s. I used one in 1973. It was an astounding FOUR bit processor. Intel bragged that a team of nearly forty people spent nearly nine months designing it.
