It’s MARVELOUS and I’d love to have it again, but NOBODY makes/sells it anymore and I’ve never made one. It’s something that most people only ate in a restaurant, long ago. Something else that hasn’t existed for over 50 years, is Charlotte Russe, which a lot of bakeries used to sell in NYC. Look that one up too. :-)

Charlotte Russe was always on display when Bloomingdale’s had a most wonderful bakery. I never bought it because in those days I didn’t eat many sweets or give parties but I still remember its beauty inside the counter. It was a very sad day when they did away with all their prepared foods.

My mom used to buy cat tongues (Langue du chat?) at Bloomingdale’s. Remember those simple French cookies? I’m getting all Proustian with this...

I have never heard of the pie, although roasted chestnuts were part of my life as a child. mmmmmm

Charlotte Russe was a special dessert that we had a couple of times. Yum. Ladyfingers and cream, what could go wrong??
