The warning makes a ton of sense, since the likely adversary isn’t a pickup team of Somali pirates. There is no way a private security force armed even with .50 cal machine guns can stand up to the level of force a nation state like Iran can bring to bear, using air- and sea-launched missiles. A single cruise missile could do a lot of damage.

While I always support armed resistance, this isn’t a few pirates. It is a nation with a real military.
It seems in this case the use of allied military escorts is the way to go.
