Trump: ‘Not a fan’ of cryptocurrencies, and Facebook may need a banking charter for Libra
CNBC ^ | 07-11-2019 | Yen Nee Lee

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said he’s “not a fan” of cryptocurrencies, and suggested that Facebook may need a banking charter if the company wants to launch the digital token Libra.

In a series of Twitter posts, Trump said cryptocurrencies are not money and “Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity.”

“If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations,” said the president.

Trump is not the only one who has criticized Facebook’s plan to introduce Libra. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire and Bank of England Governor Mark Carney are among government leaders and central bank chiefs who have spoken up against Libra.

Facebook declined to comment on Trump’s twitter posts.

[But my primary source of knowledge, besides the Grace of the Almighty, is the Scriptures themselves]

Awesome!

None taken.

Yep, she is described as a city. That's a good and valid point. But what does the term city represent here? For instance, sea sometimes is used to represent many different peoples. The term city needs to be fully researched - which admittedly I haven't. I haven't because of other characteristics which I feel greatly put the ball in America's court.

My time is limited today, but perhaps later we can pursue the matter further, if you would like. I'll have to review my notes and maybe do even more research into the subject, but should be fun, given the time, and I'm forever enthralled with prophecy. :)

Some things are listed as nations.

Mystery Babylon is described as a city.

Not an exact quote from the Bible but the meaning is clear

***Even so Lord Jesus, come quickly***

Mystery Babylon is described as a city.

Had some time to review my notes and read the link to the older FR post you PM'd me.

I'm now more convinced than ever that Mystery Babylon, like the original Babylon, is a land/providence/kingdom/etc. Though it does contain a city of the same name, much like NYC is in NY. However the entire land is referenced many times in the OT NIV Bible and even in the NT.

Revelation 18:21 (NIV), [ The Finality of Babylon’s Doom ] Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.

Most especially in the OT, the name Babylon references a land or kingdom with multiple cites, its own army, multiple kings, etc., etc.

So while some verses in Rev. do mention a city, IMO, it is the main city of the Babylonian kingdom. "Mystery Babylon"/"Daughter-of-Babylon", to me, means it's also a land like the original Babylon in its heyday.

References here: a link to the 315 mentions of Babylon in the NIV at Biblegateway.com: https://www.biblegateway.com/quicksearch/?quicksearch=babylon&qs_version=NIV

~ ~ ~

There are other hints of who the future of Babylon is we should explore. This isn't the proper place to do so, IMO. I wonder if we should start a new thread related to this subject. What are your thoughts about starting a 'eschatology caucus', or whatever it's called, to discuss such matters under the Religion Forum Rules?

Thanks for the opportunity to exchange ideas about Mystery Babylon and for allowing me the time to gather my wits and do some more research on this interesting mystery. Much is sealed until the end, but if this IS the end, it means much can now be revealed. :)

One more thing. In the older thread, I saw a reference to:

Revelation 16:18-20 New International Version (NIV)

18 Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.

IMO, the above are separate events:

1. The great city split into three parts [Jerusalem]
2. the cities of the nations collapsed. [Self Explanatory]
3. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath [Mystery Babylon]
4. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. [Tsunamis, massive earthquakes or symbols for something else - mountains could mean governments/kingdoms/countries for instance.]

Somebody tried that once, but she got frustrated and left after being constantly trolled.

It’s a controversial subject and of course everyone has their own opinions. Speaks volumes that we are unable to discuss them in a graceful manner.

It was too bad. She was a good egg. I’d have to dig to even find the screen name. She FReepmailed me and told me she gave up.

She’s been gone for years. At least 3-4 years. I don’t even remember her name now. Not sure even if I could find it. She not only gave up, she left FR completely. I haven’t seen her in years and years. Same with another one that was constantly harassed.

IC.

Thought you might be interested in something I found concerning "mystery Babylon" while researching another subject.

Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms,
like nations gathered together!
The LORD of Hosts musters
an army for war.
5They are coming from faraway lands,
from the ends of the heavens—
the LORD and the weapons of His wrath—
to destroy the whole country.

It's from 'An Oracle Concerning Babylon' Isaiah 13.

It's most surely an end time prophesy:

Behold, the Day of the LORD is coming—
cruel, with fury and burning anger—
to make the earth a desolation
and to destroy the sinners within it.

Read the entire thing at the link I left above...

Thanks. We’re not going to agree on it. I’ve been through it a lot of times.

Nonetheless, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

On a different slant, this is the gross error of Jack van Impe (and others) who use Jeremiah 50-52 as “the United States of America”.

That they do not understand “Babylon, the land of Chaldea” is, frankly, awful. Jack van Impe preached this error for at least two decades. Now he’s on to even worse error. Which is why I haven’t watched him in over two years.

Chaldea is, and always has been, and always will be, in the area of Iraq.

It’s right there in Jeremiah 50:1. KJV, too. NIV is not an equivalent translation, in many places (not saying you noted the NIV).

Jeremiah 50:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

50 The word that the Lord spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

Now, with all that being said, America (and the other nations) are doing a very, very fine imitation of Babylon (and Sodom and Gomorrah). Most of it coming from the Democrats, Hollywood, the media and PC.

Yes, these are in fact dangerous times not only for America, but the world. The spirit of antichrist is running rampant.

Isaiah 13:19

19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms,
*******The beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride,*******
Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

No problem, there's plenty more I'm sure we'll agree on, such as these are indeed dangerous times!

At least we know each other's opinion about Babylon. :)
