The first problem was he yelled immigration all during the campaign and worked everyone into a fever for the wall.

The day after the election, he should have asked Ryan and Turtle if they would provide funding for the wall. On Jan 21, 2017, if there was no funding, he should have proclaimed the emergency declaration then. BTW he had both houses in the republican party then.

Yes I understand. But that meant nothing. The GOP was never behind him. Its a weak and feckless party of liars and appeasers. However, I agree with you that trump should have been way more aggressive on the immigration problem from the get go.

This is a major political setback for him in that a lot of supporters will no longer buy his rhetoric and braggadocio.
