That is an interesting quote in the article.
I suppose there may be historical quotes of Lincoln saying, “I am an abolitionist.” And, "support the war for abolition.”
If those quotes can be found it will go a long way toward proving Lincoln, in fact, "fought to free the slaves" and used the military to violently overthrow the pro-slavery United States Constitution.
I know there is historical evidence that the Republican Party opposed expansion of slavery into the territories, but that is not the same as being for abolition. Prohibiting slaves from being taken into the territories did not help the slaves; it helped prevent labor competition between free whites and slaves. Advantage: free whites.

I find this to be incredibly stupid.
No Democrats who founded the KKK or owned slaves are alive. The modern Democratic Party is the party of blacks and other minorities, anything Democrats did for whites prior to 1970 is long gone.
