The Governor is still very much a Democrat. The New Progressive party is a local political party that includes both Democrats and Republicans. I explained the “Progressive” part of their name in yesterday’s thread:
“Not to defend anyone, but the name of that party was in use before leftists started using the word progressive. The progressive part of the name New Progressive Party has nothing to do with leftist policies. A better translation is For Progress (progresista vs. progresivo in Spanish. This party was founded in 1972 by a stalwart Republican, former governor Luis A. Ferré. He named it so, 1, to attract moderate Democrats who could work with Republican policies, and 2, to create progress in the sense of economic progress. Today that party is still made up of both Republicans and Democrats, but currently dominated by the Democrat wing”.
Dems and their ilk have always been obsessed with proper terms for things. However, their fancy labels can never cover the stench of what lies beneath them.
