McConnell challenger Amy McGrath says she raised $2.5 million in 24 hours after announcing bid
Boston Globe . NYTimes ^ | July 10, 2019

Amy McGrath, a retired Marine lieutenant colonel and combat pilot who is seeking to unseat Sen. Mitch McConnell in 2020, raised $2.5 million in the first 24 hours of her campaign, her campaign manager said Wednesday.

The fundraising haul eclipsed the first-day totals raised by some heavyweight contenders in the presidential race, including Sens Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren. It suggests that McGrath retains some of the star power she harnessed during her failed bid last year to capture a House seat in Kentucky.

It is also an indication of just how badly Democrats want to oust McConnell, the Senate majority leader.

I remember last election some famous lefty movie star ran against McConnell and raised tens of millions from gullible democrat donors. In the end McConnell not only won, but did so by a large margin.

McGrath’s biggest challenge is that it’s a Presidential election year, and the two chief topics that will come up: (1) capitalism versus socialism, and (2) the Census citizenship question.

She can outspend Mitch three to one, and it won’t matter...those two questions will linger on the minds of three-quarters of the general public of Kentucky.

Added to this waste of money...Mitch likely retires within twelve months of winning, allowing Bevin (current GOP governor) to take his place. Mitch walks out, with a ton of PAC money and a chance to influence the 2022 Senate seats. Let them spend as much money as they want...Trump will simply schedule a Kentucky visit every six weeks, and make up for the funding.

EVERY MAJOR “NEWS” outlet PROMOTED HER and should be listing their promotions as “DONATION IN KIND” contributions to her campaign!

If Democrats wanted to get rid of McConnell so badly why did they cross the aisle to vote for him when he was in danger of being primaries?

With such a military background, I wonder why she’s a democrat.

Is she a lesbian perhaps?

I voted for Bevin but he lost. The good news is he then became Governor. Meanwhile, I’ll happily vote for Amy against McConnel.

I take it back, after reading this:

She’s just another leftist democrat that wants to get elected at all costs.

She’s a Democrat... what we need is a good conservative Republican to primary Mitch out of his seat and still win the election.

Yeah. I skimmed the article and, more importantly, read another article about her. I could never vote democrat. The worst I could do would be to simply not vote. But even that is not acceptable.

No true conservative would use McGrath’s statement to demoralize the feminist fringe kooks.
