> People say that, but really, where is the evidence Perot pulled votes from Republican voters?

Not specifically, but as per Codevilla, "while most of the voters who call themselves Democrats say that Democratic officials represent them well, only a fourth of the voters who identify themselves as Republicans tell pollsters that Republican officeholders represent them well".

Two things on that:

First, a person could surmise that some or many of that discontented group went elsewhere (they also could have gone Dem or Independent or stayed home), but that is not very strong anecdotal evidence that all or even most pulled the ‘Perot lever’. Certainly not strong enough to make a foregone conclusion like many do.

Second, if only 25% of the Republican electorate think they are adequately represented, who’s fault is that? I would say the RNC and the politicians themselves are to blame for that, wouldn’t you?

At any rate, rest in peace Mr. Ross Perot.
