The scandal that I call “The Greatest Scientific Fraud Of All Time” is the alteration of official world temperature data by a small number of government employees in the US and the UK. Uniformly, the alterations have the effect of lowering temperatures early in the record, and raising recent temperatures, in order to create and enhance a warming trend that does not exist in the data as originally reported. In the geologic past the ice caps have melted many times and we then returned to the norm which is ice age, not the pleasant climate we now enjoy. In fact the ice caps may totally melt and we will recede from the coasts over many hundreds of years if not thousands as we did in the past.
However, we have had brief warming periods in an ice age that resulted in some melting of the polar caps as today and then went back into full ice age. The recent melting of the polar ice caps resulted in a very rapid rise in ocean levels over the past 15000 years. The rate has become very small in the last few thousand years. This is an indication that we may still be in an ice age with a brief warming period and subject to a new full ice age in the near future of the next few hundred years or few thousands of years.
We do not really know. Those that tell you they know are either liars or scientific idiots.

At face value it doesn’t make sense. If you increase the content of any atom or molecule in the atmosphere such that the overall atmosphere mass increases by 0.03 percent, how can that possibly have a net effect of a full degree or two?
