Justice Department shaking up legal team on census case
Washington Post ^ | July 8, 2019

The Justice Department is shaking up the legal team fighting for the inclusion of a citizenship question on the 2020 census but offered no specifics on why the change was being made.

The change announced Sunday comes days after the department vowed to continue to try to find a legal path forward to include the question on the census. The Trump administration has faced numerous roadblocks to adding the question, including a ruling from the Supreme Court that blocked its inclusion, at least temporarily.

President Donald Trump said last week that he was “very seriously” considering an executive order to get the question on the form. The government has already started to print the census questionnaire without the question.

The Justice Department is expected to file court papers Monday that show a new team of lawyers will take over.

“Since these cases began, the lawyers representing the United States in these cases have given countless hours to defending the Commerce Department and have consistently demonstrated the highest professionalism, integrity, and skill inside and outside the courtroom,” Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said in a statement.

Back President Trump’s effort to make certain the census form contains the citizenship question in it and no reference to race. But to the country of where the respondent is a citizen of if not an American citizen.
TIME TO END HYPHENATING AMERICANS

One thing the Mexican Constitution has that we should consider doing.Mexico has no hyphenated Mexicans. They prohibit any reference to race when they conduct a census or issue any means of identification, Where a photo id is not available physical description is needed skin color yes but not by race but by nationality..

By doing this Mexico has avoided “balkanizing”, creating fractional disputes in areas where a given group in one of its states is a majority or a minority. Plus it could play a significant part in shutting down the political playing off racial divisions between Americans by the Democrats.

They need a rationale? Where does it say people not in the country legally deserve federal representation in Congress? Where does it say the allocation of federal taxpayer resources be distributed equally among citizen and non-citizen? These are not obvious reasons? Bizzaro Land.

I heard the same analysis...looks like Roberts wants to nullify the Constitution and put the courts (lawyers) in charge...God help us all (until the next revolution)...

The real problem is Roberts, a back stabbing traitor of the worst kind. He faked being an actual conservative and has screwed us but good.

No, the REAL problem is a Congress that doesn’t do its F* J-O-B and remove/impeach judges for judicial over-reach and legislating from the bench.

2nd to that is the Exec. that doesn’t tell the courts to go back up their illegal decrees.

To the latter, all Trump had to do w/ DAILY pound the “the ? is Constitutional” point. The Left & MSM (I repeat myself) would have been in pretzels trying to rationalize why the court needed a reason ELSE.

Your point is good but I have seen no sign Trump has any inclination to take back the power the judiciary has taken from the Exucutve branch. I pray if he wins in 20 it wil be exactly what he does.

And I read recently that the citizenship question actually used to be in the census, until Obama took it out. Nobody said anything at the time.

I think that article was even posted here at FR, but unfortunately I don’t recall the title or the link, but it’s there somewhere.

I found one of the articles that says it used to be in the census until Obama took it out.

Trump’s Citizenship Question Isn’t Controversial. Obama Deleting It Should’ve Been.

Apparently the "legal team" was "working on" the problem for a year. They accomplished nothing, which suggests they stink, or they're working for the other side. Thanks SMGFan.

I was passing by the TV and thought I heard (FBN) that the judge says the legal team can not be replaced?
