Last week Nike pulled a Betsy Ross American flag inspired sneaker after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick complained.
The backlash was swift, especially since the move came right before Independence Day. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey pulled tax incentives for the company, which planned to open up facilities in the state.
Retired U.S. Marine Johnny "Joey" Jones, who lost both of his legs serving in Afghanistan, took things to another level.

Here's more of Jones' story, from ABC News:
On Aug. 6, he and his partner were sent to clear a bazaar to protect Afghan civilians. After defusing 40 bombs in just five days, Jones accidentally stepped on a pressure plate, the trigger to setting off a massive explosion.
His mother, Joyce Jones, was at home in Dalton, Ga., when officers came to the house to tell her the news.
"They wouldn't even tell me if he was alive," she said. "They told me he had lost both of his legs, one below the knee and one above. They had to do an amputation. And they told me one of his arms was broken. That's all they told me."
When Jones regained consciousness, he said, he was at the Landstuhl hospital in Germany. "Everything was bandaged. I had tubes coming out everywhere and, you know, it wasn't the best day of my life."
The smile on his face brought a smile to my face! Thanks for posting it, Kaslin!
You’re welcome. It did on mine too.
I tossed out all Nike gear and will never buy their products again.
Definitely never buying anything with the Nike logo ever again.
I don't remember the show or the specifics only that if chris hohn and I were in the same space, only one of us would be walking out.
Nike Zoom line have been the only shoe that have been comfortable for me that I have found.
Monday I am going to the New Ballance store with the Nike logo blacked out with electrical tape.
Hopefully I can offer the store a chance to video me burning my anti American Nike shoes sporting brand new New Ballance kicks in a burn can in their parking lot and have them post it on their Facebook page. If not I will be going to the other athletic shoe stores and will find something to replace these. There are going to be burnt Nike shoes tomorrow.
Doubly so, when I saw the picture and title...then read the article.
After all he has been through, to give a smile like that, and make a gesture like. that...
Yeah. If he can make a statement and smile like that, I sure as hell can too!
It is people like him that give me hope for this country, He is a young guy, and if we can still get people like him to embrace what this country stands for in the way that he has...there are others, too.
