Then the Frederick, Maryland Town Herald marked Monroe’s passing on July 9, 1831 by also noting the “presidential coincidence”:

“This have three of our revolutionary presidents departed this life on the anniversary of our independence; presenting the most remarkable tissue of coincidences that have marked the history of nations,” the newspaper said.

I don’t believe the Herald has a feud running with Trump at this time either.

Again, look at the date provided.

It was the 9th. The 5th and the 9th did not take place on a day when the president would be making a public presentation in front of hundreds of thousands of people.

They had the good sense not to raise an issue like that early on the day he was.
