The Portland police chief argued in favor of implementing an anti-mask law on Wednesday to curb the violent brawls that most recently resulted in a conservative journalist being hospitalized over the weekend.
“We cannot allow people to continue to use the guise of free speech to commit a crime,’’ Police Chief Danielle Outlaw said, according to The Oregonian. “A lot of people are emboldened because they know they can’t be identified.’’
There are currently 15 states that have laws that have banned masks of some sort. Those against the ban argue that it infringes First Amendment rights.

How about the police chief just arrests the thugs instead of standing around watching with their thumbs up their butts.
This sounds like craven deflection from the disgraceful refusal by the police department to enforce laws; it isn’t the masks that are assaulting innocent journalists and others. Will masks be illegal, but crowbars, bats and pepper spray still be okay? How about instead, growing a pair and standing up to the antifa mayor?
I watched the excellent movie “The Free State of Jefferson.” During the part of the movie about Reconstruction in the South, the writers clearly stated the terrorists terrorizing blacks and poor whites were all Democrats and Republicans were the champions of the rights of freemen. I was shocked that made it into the movie.
I was looking at a middle school level American history text yesterday. There was a huge disclaimer right at the top of the section on Woodrow Wilson that “GOP and Dems have changed their values since founding in the 18th centuries.” I will give the book publisher a small bit of credit for at least admitting Wilson was a segregationist. But no mention of his other racist activities.
Portland DOES NOT have anti-mask laws. The Portland PD used that fact as part of it’s explanation of why they are motionless when Antifa is loose.
Only those who fear prosecution for criminal acts wear masks.
