I think this is a misdirected goal. The goal should be to provide a quality education to every student at a level where he can succeed. If the best you can do is "woodshop" then make it the best woodshop education possible (white or black). If desegregation is intended to promote racial harmony and understanding, it can not happen.
Consider the message that is given to the black student (already behind) when he arrives at the predominantly white school. "You are a loser and you will never succeed." He gets that message every day implicitly from students and teachers too. In the teen world, he sees other students with better clothes (shoes excluded), better parental involvement, better focus and better direction. He gets the message and eventually will drop out or act out.
Consider the message the white student gets when arriving at a predominately black school. "You are in our hood now, you are going to do what we say." So much for racial harmony. It becomes a daily fight for survival.

She rode a bus for a couple of years to attend an elementary school in the Berkeley Hills. It wasn't required and the schools in Berkeley weren't segregated at the time.
Her parents then got divorced and her Indian mom took her to live in Canada...not exactly the ADOS experience.
I'd argue she would have been happier walking to the closest elementary school with her friends from the neighborhood than voluntarily being bused to a "better" school across town.
The school is not the building. It is the administrators and teachers (and students). Better to let those "schools" shut down to free up the building for a real school.

She did what she needed to do; mortally wound Joe Biden by painting him as old and out of touch, a relic of the past. The fact that he stuttered and stammered his reply, a preview of how he'll be chewed apart by President Trump in the debates, was icing on the cake.
