Is AmeriCorps still around?

I recall from previous decades, VISTA volunteers were active.

Point is, haven’t we been there and done that?

I never heard Obama talk about AmeriCorps. I wonder if he would know how to pronounce it.

I think AmeriCorp died back around 2000.
Someone else, I think it was Obama suggested AmeriCorp II and of course it went nowhere.
It must have been a big slush fund to try and get it back again.
