Portland Police Association President Daryl Turner called on the mayor to let officers do their job during protests. ...
"Where are the voices condemning the lawlessness and violence?" Turner asked. "If this violence had been directed at Antifa, there would have been an immediate call for an independent, outside investigation. This is a perfect example of Portland politics at work and why our great city is now under fire in the national news."
"The Mayor, our Police Commissioner, is not allowed to use the rank and file officers of the Portland Police Bureau as a shield to deflect Portland's negative press nationwide," the union leader continued. "As we have said before and will continue to say: Police officers work to uphold the Constitution, including the right to free speech. It's our job to ensure that our community can peacefully protest without fear of violence but right now our hands are tied."

Portland Police Association President Daryl Turner...
He layeth the smacketh downeth.
Well boy-o thats all well and good
Why didnt the police officers resign enmasse to protest being told to stand down???
I guess for the same reason police union big wigs 9as well as the small guys) have not resigned enmasse when De Blasio keeps making a mess continually and/or rips into the police, rips into police policies, etc.
Excuse me, but I meant the Federal Bureau of Incompetence?
Just enforce the law and if the filthy mayor tries to stop you arrest the son of a bitch. No excuse for police not acting.
Portland mayor, Ted Wheeler: Stand down police!
FBI, in Sergeant Schultz mode: We see NOTHING! We know NOTHING!
FBI agents saw trouble and feared they might be hurt so they scampered away and hid out in an Arby’s.
But can they be fired before they have a chance to arrest him?
And if so, and yet the mayor is still arrested eventually, will they get their jobs back?
Yeah. You Police unions talk real big now that the heat is on...
Mayor butt-kissers!!!
What we need to do here is focus this on the mayor, not on the police.
The mayor, not the police (in general), is the problem.
The MSM will try their hardest to deflect and distract this away from the mayor and Portland to elsewhere...
True.
I have high esteem for law enforcement officers ----except ones who stand down and do mindfulness visualizations of their pension someday, thus taking away the courage to say "I swore to uphold the law and protect the people and I am going to do that."
>>Why didnt the police officers resign enmasse to protest being told to stand down???
Why didn’t they just ignore the illegal order? Or arrest the mayor under 18 US 241?
This is just CYA mode.
What order was given? Anyone? Read the entire useless article. Prove the police have been ordered to allow violence or shut up! Everyone involved is a coward.
Yes.
And if any person being beaten and bloodied pulled a weapon the cops would then suddenly wake up, blink their eyes, unfold their arms and go running over to handcuff and arrest the bloodied guy.
“You incited the Antifa guys to make them beat you. Under arrest.”
Or toss the mayor under the bus since this is now out of control.
But, it still doesn’t mean there was not a stand down order.
There indeed might have been one and me may have to wait for that info to come out at some point.
First things first:
1.) stay on the mayor.
2,) The MSM will try to protect Portland mayor Ted Wheeler at all costs. They could care less about Daryl Turner.
3.) Then we can deal with the rest afterwards.
His city deserves to shat upon by ten thousand homeless drug addicts. OH, too late on that one...
Stand down orders are illegal. These cops should have done their job.
Not necessarily. A policeman as a soldier can disobey an order that he finds unlawful.
Not interceding on behalf of an innocent citizen being brutally beaten in fear for his life is a crime and therefor must be disregarded.
