Old WWII armor joke is you don’t have to kill the German armor just hide from them for 3 days and by then they will have broken down.

I seem to recall that the Sherman WAS successful against German tanks using a shoot and scoot tactic. Have several Shermans just behind a rise. They would take turns shooting at a German tank, then pop back behind the rise and continue. Sort of like “Whack a Mole” - with the Germans never knowing where the next one would pop out from. Although I guess that would only work if we had more tanks in the battle.
