While it has taken several months for the mainstream media and the majority of Democrats to catch on, there is finally bipartisan consensus regarding the existence of an immigration crisis at the United States-Mexico border. When reports of appalling conditions at some border detention facilities began to spread, it became clear that there was a moral imperative that something must be done to combat this undeniable humanitarian crisis.
On Thursday, the House passed a bipartisan Senate humanitarian aid package which allocates $4.59 billion in supplemental border funding with the ultimate goal of addressing the reports of unacceptable conditions at migrant detention centers. Instead of celebrating a rare moment of successful partisanship, the progressive wing of the Democratic Party have unwittingly revealed their true colors.
Several radical members of the American Left have spent recent weeks mimicking The Simpsons’ Helen Lovejoy, with cries of “Won’t somebody please think of the children?!” Displaying shameless levels of millennial narcissism, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez even posted staged photos of herself crying beside the fence of a Texas detention center. Not one photograph actually showed the focus of her apparent distress.
If we lived in a rational world, we would expect those who have been openly emotional in support of migrants and their children to be relieved when legislative progress alleviates the immediate issues faced at the border. However, the fresh faces of the Democratic Party routinely prove that we no longer live in a rational world.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was vocally furious that Nancy Pelosi passed the bipartisan Senate bill. Taking to Twitter, she stated:
Under no circumstances should the House vote for a McConnell-only bill w/ no negotiation with Democrats. Hell no.
That’s an abdication of power we should refuse to accept. They will keep hurting kids if we do.
0 negotiation with the House. We offered crucial amendments to protect children and families - none are even being considered.
A minority is different than a majority. And while the Senate has to deal with its lack of power there, a House majority should have a seat @ the table.
We have time. We can stay in town. We can at LEAST add some amendments to this Senate bill. But to pass it completely unamended with no House input? That seems a bridge too far.
Not only did she refuse to support the bipartisan Senate bill, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was joined by fellow Democratic “fresh faces” Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) in voting against the House bill passed by Democrats earlier in the week, which was also written with the supposed goal of addressing the border crisis.
The combination of crocodile tears and the refusal to compromise should stand as a warning to the dwindling moderate wing of the Democratic Party.
AOC and her radical compatriots are truly devoid of morality, integrity, and substance. Ocasio-Cortez is happy to wax lyrical and compare the border detention centers to Holocaust-esque concentration camps. She is happy to promote herself as a morally-superior personality on social media, expertly selecting the perfect Instagram filter to highlight the tears rolling from her eyes. But the complete lack of action indicates where their hearts truly lie.
Time has come for people to realize the game that the radical Left plays. They present themselves as defenders of morality, warriors of compassion, proponents of social justice. The truth is that they are moral terrorists, who take hostage the victims they claim to wish to protect, using their suffering as a weapon to push their own political ideology.
Either Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez care about the children at the border, or they dont. Using their moral logic, if they cared about the children, they would have done whatever it took to provide them with the resources they so desperately need. This week, they proved that they dont care about the children. For them, children are simply disposable tools in their macabre pursuit of power.
American Children ?
See Roe v Wade
I’d be happy if she just started thinking. Then we can move on to more complicated topics.
You think she’s able to?
Mouthpieces dont think.
They do what they are told by their owners.
AOC is OWNED by the DSA.
They screened for her, hired her, and got her elected.
The evidence for this is easy to find on the internet.
DSA didn’t even try to hide what they were doing.
This idiot had the nerve to question Ivanka’s trip with her father to the G20 as not being experienced enough to attend. This coming from a bartender who steals from the tip jar
America, the Global KinderCare.
Just the other day Pelosi was whining about taking care of OUR Children.
They aren’t MY Children.
They aren’t the Children of my fellow American Citizens.
Reminds me of the line, ‘what you mean WE Kemosabe ?” after Tonto and the Long Ranger are surrounded by hostile Indians and the Lone Ranger says we’re in trouble Tonto...
AOC, Will You Please Think !
Fixed it.
If we lived in a rational world, we would expect those who have been openly emotional in support of migrants and their children to be relieved ........
.......of their offices.
Nice to see congress does not discriminate against hiring the mentally handicapped.
All these....think of the children posts. From supposedly conservatives. I don’t give a damn about these children. Send them back asap from whence they came. They’re not our children and not our responsibility...and I’m sick of everyone, Republicans included, spending money on them and making them my problem. Cry me a fricken river...I no longer care.
“AOC, Will You Please Think Of The Children?”
She spends all her time thinking about one child....herself.
There is no reason to live, government will do it for you.
She should be running for President. She wouldn’t even stand out in that crowd.
She hasn’t displayed the ability thus far.
saikat chakrabarti, cortez's chief handler, likely wishes he had more control over his mouthpiece.
