US President Donald Trump has appeared to make light of Russian election interference during a meeting with the country's leader, Vladimir Putin.
A smirking Mr Trump wagged his finger at the Russian president and said: "Don't meddle in the election, please."
The pair were holding talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan.
It was their first meeting since Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.
US intelligence agencies concluded that Russia was behind an effort to influence the presidential election with a state-authorised campaign of cyber-attacks and fake news stories planted on social media.
But special counsel Mueller's report found no evidence that the Trump campaign criminally conspired with Russia to influence the election.

Trolling the media in real time ...
What the hell is he supposed to say. No different than what Obama did when he told Putin to.....”Cut it out!”
What did the Russians say toward the end of 2011...when all the social media giants came into Russia and attempted to influence their election? They knew words would not do much....so they returned the favor in 2016.
Russia didn’t influence the 2016 election in any way whatsoever. It’s a lie.
Steele dossier?
Media bias is the biggest factor in swinging elections. Search engine skew is another significant factor. Google manipulates available content to favor the BS promulgated by the press and its fact-manglers.
True.
CNN had a bigger impact on the election outcome (close to naught) than the Russians did.
What happened is that a small group of enterprising click-entrepreneurs figured out the game that Facebook was running, and simply built information that had value (you and I can argue over the value), and simply bought ads on Facebook that click-customers to a message that people liked. Facebook made money, the private Russian click-entrepreneurs made money, and the people reading the fake news item were happy.
Right now, the same system exists for people to make money off clicks. Maybe Facebook suggests they resolved this or fixed it, but I don’t believe them.
It was a perfect putdown to a snarky press looking for one liners to embarass Trump and Putin as they sat there together.
Maybe Trump should have leaned in go Putin and said Ill have more flexibility after the election
So Trump “smirks”. No bias here from the BBC!
The “Russians” you mentioned bought what, $100,000 worth of supposedly pro Trump ads in 2016? It’s all bullshit.
Thats PRESIDENT Trump, you BBC wankers.
And the ads they bought promoted BLM and the like.
That’s it! He needs to be impeached! Again!
Facebook can’t (or WON’T) stop Nigerian scammer from ‘selling’ concert tickets to every event post (fake accounts with account names that don’t match their url name and are out of state for local shows).
“So sad me and my family have to change plans can’t go. DM me for price...”
Absolutely correct. Facebook has avoided telling the rest of the story, but it’s likely that the Russian click-entrepreneurs probably made a minimum of three times their investment back. Someone last year was estimating that some of the more popular ‘click’ chances might have brought back one dollar for each penny invested in BLM ads or pro-Trump ads. It was a brilliant strategy on these Russians to figure out the profit set-up for Facebook, and rig it in their favor.
