I have a professional acquaintance who is a gay male. We get along professionally, but we have little social interaction, since we live miles apart. I don't endorse his behavior, but that's separate from our professional relationship. If we lived closer, I'm not sure we could keep the professional relationship closed off from friendship. Fortunately that's not a current problem.

I’ve worked with and around both gays and lesbians.
Dykes are fun but occasionally hostile. Fems make
good ‘buddies.’
Male queers are always pushing for approval.

My wife has a cousin who's gay. A few of our lovely daughter's friends are "switch hitters". They're good kids who don't make a big deal about their sexuality. My inner libertarian could care less about how CONSENTING ADULTS carry on as far as that goes. Don't force me to bake a cake and we can get along.
