Forget about how we’d pay for reparations or who would be eligible. The point isn’t to make things right, but to re-make America.
What do we mean by reparations? Writing recently in the Washington Post, Sheryll Cashin, a law professor at Georgetown University, argues that “reparations should repair what white supremacy still breaks. Atoning for the legacy of chattel slavery is simply not enough.”
That is, reparations must be broad enough to encompass the many crimes and injustices perpetrated against black Americans throughout our history, from slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration. The effects of these injustices, says Cashin, are “direct and measurable” among slavery’s descendants: wage gaps, educational disparities, homeownership and property values, incarceration rates, health outcomes.
She is of course right. There is no question that black Americans have suffered greatly, not just from the memory of slavery but from its long legacy of rampant discrimination and racist policies.
It was this history that Ta-Nehisi Coates invoked in testimony last week before a House subcommittee considering a bill to create a commission to study reparations. Responding to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s comment that reparations are not a good idea because no one responsible for slavery is alive today, Coates reeled off a list of racial injustices that were perpetrated in McConnell’s lifetime.
Because McConnell was born in 1942, there is plenty of injustice to point to, and Coates, who has built a successful career on elegantly expressing outrage over such injustice, made the most of it:

I noticed that Cory Booker and Kamala Harris CLAIM to be black. They are not even tan, beige at best. They are no more black than Elizabeth Wampum Warren is Indian! LOL And I can make fun I actually am part Cherokee, my great grandma Mary Ann Burch Hargrove was at least 1/2 Cherokee. And I have an ancestor who was a black freed slave.
The Democrats are trying to buy the black vote with the promise of a check that will never come.
So “Dreamers” aren’t responsible for the crimes of their parents...

Are the Blacks going to pay reparations for the slaves they owned? Will the Blacks in Africa pay for the slaves their ancestors sold?
Or will Blacks of recent decades pay reparations to the affirmative action victims whose places in educational programs they took?
How about reparations to the women for the abuse by the patriarchy?

1) No "black" American living today has been legally enslaved in these United States.
2) No American living today has legally owned a slave in these United States.
3) The current "legacy" of racism consists of systematic legal "affirmative action" against "white" people.
Nobody living today is "owed" reparations for 19th Century slavery. Nobody living today "owes" reparations for 19th Century slavery.
People clamoring for "slavery reparations" are attempting to use the power of government to commit armed robbery. They must be stopped. By any means necessary.
You know, these so-called progressives and their ideology are, not far after people being sinful in the first place, what is wrong with America.

Many if not most slave descendents received reparations in the form of white genes

She has exactly ZERO US black ancestry.
That goes without saying. The real issue is Why didn't the Dems do this while they had complete control in D.C.? I think the Dems have no idea of ever implementing reparations; they use it when there is a Repub president so that they can continue to paint the GOP as racist, elite super rich KKK'ers.
They are more and more calling the Republican Party the party of slavery. An uneducated populace is a great asset to tyrants.
Korea was flat on its back after the Korean War. Now look at them. Why can the Koreans succeed so spectacularly while Black and Hispanics can’t even get out of the batters box? If Koreans took over either Haiti or Gaza these places would shine like Singapore in ten years.
