It does demonstrate a willingness to sacrifice for the country, however. Too many pols get out of law school and weasel their way into “ public service,” only to spend their lives at the trough.
I’m not looking for a self sacrificing martyr. And people join for all kinds of reasons. Some for a ticket punch.
