Perhaps we embarrassed @Google but NOTHING we said was hateful, defamatory, or discriminatory. They're trying to erase us from the internet.

Commenting on another blog today. I'm promiscuous. I came up with this description of what Facebook and Google have becomeSeems to me it is a property rights problem. People enter into the Facebook or Google plantations and start to sharecrop advertising. Google owns the land and the user doesn't even have rights to finish the growing season. If the user displeases the lords of the manor, they can be thrown off the land and all their improvements either confiscated, burned or thrown off with them.
Sharecropping is a crappy way of life, but if it is all you got, you make the best of it. But people seem to have lost sight of the fact they have no enforceable property rights. They live by the leave and the whim of the landowners. And the landowners or the personal guard and retainers have decided they don't want certain people, who think differently, on their land.
For survival, you may have to work sharecropping on the internet. But you should not lose sight of the fact that your life is tenuous and take precautions. Perhaps we'll move into a republican period and the feudal system will be overthrown even if we have to take the heads of a few kings and nobles.
There are zillions of websites and web servers of all shapes and forms in the world. FR may be a Deplorable website but if the current host kicked them off, I can guarantee you there are dozens of alternatives around. To wit: Infowars, Breitbart, Drudge, Twitchy, and Gateway Pundit haven't been eliminated. When we get to that point, ping me.
If I understand it correctly, your argument is that: Big tech has taken it upon itself to sort through all the viewpoints, news, and entertainment, and decide for us what we should read, watch, buy, or even how we should engage in civil society. And they’re doing it all under the shadow of complicated algorithms that make little sense to either the content creators whose livelihood depends on them or the users whose everyday decisions they’re controlling. With this unprecedented power, platforms have both the incentive and the ability to redirect into their own pockets the advertising dollars that once fueled the newspaper business.
When conservatives sound like Al Franken that's when I stop and pause. The "trust me bad stuff, it's coming...so let's have the Justice Depatment or Congress intervene. They will DEFINITELY do a better job than the free market because people can't live without the big tech firms" argument simply isn't satisfying.
I've read the same stories you did, about this or that bank closing accounts etc...and the fear that we will have to set up our own parallel universe etc is palpable. It's also not based in reality, but it is based in statism - government, you're our only hope.
Sorry, it takes a little more than that to make me exchange my Vast Right Wing Conspiracy decoder ring for a seat at the groper barbecue. Honest to goodness, it is stunning how easy it is for alleged conservatives to become philosophical cousins of Al Franken over big tech. Sure, let's break up all scary firms...like GE...they were big and powerful and it's a great thing the Justice Department broke them up.

For your argument to be valid, Vimeo must remove all video filmed in public without passersby permission. No public recordings would be allowed on their platform. The owner of Vimeo is a rabid leftist and Trump hater.

Exactly. We don't have to worry about Russian interference in elections. It's big tech that's the danger. That video clearly outlines their intention to influence the next election.

I don't know if that's true or not.
I do know Vimeo said no posting without consent.
Well then we have nothing to worry about.
