Trump says this is his ‘Plan B’ if China-U.S. trade talks collapse

In a wide-ranging interview with Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo Wednesday morning, Trump suggested that he’s happy to receive import duties from China if efforts to reach a detente between the world’s largest economies fails to result in a concrete trade deal.

“My Plan B with China is to take billions and billions a month…and we’ll do less business with them,” Trump said. Wall Street is eagerly waiting for a meeting with Trump and China President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Group of 20 gathering that is set to take place in Osaka, Japan, over the weekend.

The U.S. already has imposed 25% tariffs on some $200 billion of Chinese goods, and Trump has threatened to impose the same levy on over $300 billion of Chinese products.

Yes, communism in China will fail IF the USA has a real president like Trump. It may not fail if another one-worlder wimp gets into the White House and Senate majority.

Xi is worried about just that. If communism goes down or really weakens, the old guard commies in China could take Xi out. Ditto North Korea. Could happen.

From American consumers.

That is rich coming from a deficit chicken hawk.

Who better to pay taxes than those supporting a another countries economy? Consumption taxes are better than the income tax in every way. Hypocrite.

So I see.

Oh wait don't tell me. You learned were fed that in high school...Econ 101.

College economics. But by all means tell us who is actually paying the tariffs?

“From American consumers. “

They won’t buy the products if you increase the prices.

Shortly new products from new sources will emerge. And they will cost less than Chinese products.

Your quote furthers the BS story of the Free Traitors. That people will not change the purchasing habits if the price goes up.

But they will.

Unless there is no alternative source for the products. You may price some completely out of the market but the rest will pay the tax.

Shortly new products from new sources will emerge.

From where?

And they will cost less than Chinese products.

And you know this how? If Chinese goods are taxed at 25% then they only have to come in slightly below the actual cost plus tariff.

But they will.

Of course they will.

Of all the things US Consumers buy from China, what exactly is not available elsewhere? iPhones?

Enterprise and capital will move from China to innumerable other locations. The goal here is two fold:

- Reduce the deficit, which will occur as SOME production moves back to the US and some purchases are delayed.
- Strangle China, our principal strategic competitor.

As for just barely beating the tariffed price, there will be several sources making a play for $500bil in goods. They will fight amongst each other on price and quality/value, knowing the Chinese are not going to sell cheap, at a loss, to buy an entire market.

But then there’s folks like yourself who will keep buying Chinese goods at any price, because that’s where your loyalty lies.

We could just ban Chinese goods, but prefer to give consumers a choice. We’ll shift our consumption to Vietnam, etc and little in the name of tariffs will be paid. Of course, you know that. Have you sold your brain to the Central Committee?

China is slowly losing as other sources are sought and will remain in place if buyers like the price and quality.
