The 5-year-old Woodbury boy who survived being thrown from a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America remains in intensive care due to severe complications from the attack, his parents said in a Tuesday update on their GoFundMe page.
Up until now we have let our hopes govern what we have revealed to the public, the post stated. However, the injuries and severe complications have now resulted in more than 15 separate medical procedures or surgeries, including surgeries for two broken arms and a broken leg, removal of his spleen, procedures for fluid in his lungs and stomach, as well as for facial and skull fractures; and just this past weekend, he had a stent placed in a vein that runs through his liver because of the serious complications he continues to endure.
The boy, publicly identified only as Landen, has been in intensive care since he was thrown nearly 40 feet to the ground by 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda on April 12.
While the miracle of his survival is what we celebrate and thank Jesus for every day, we must also acknowledge that our beautiful boy has been on a very challenging road to recovery, the family wrote. We are still unsure when our family will be able to return home.
Aranda pleaded guilty to attempted premeditated first-degree murder and was sentenced earlier this month in Hennepin County District Court to 19 years in prison.
The Minneapolis man told investigators he went to the Bloomington mall looking for someone to kill after women he approached there had rejected his advances. He said he had planned to kill an adult before choosing the child instead.
Arandas family said he suffered from mental illness, though his lawyer never raised that as a defense.
Jihad in the USA.
I wonder what kinda complications he suffers from.
Big yawns from the legacy media. Not the correct race of perp or victim.
Is Emmanuel Aranda going to get reparations for slavery?
There is still hope. The poor boy is going through many surgeries and procedures, I hope they help and he will recover eventually. But it must be very hard for the kid and his parents. Pray for them.
Please, God, heal this poor child.
The perp should be permanently locked up in jail or insane asylum.
The perp should be shot.
As should all jihadists.
The only way to stop jihad is to kill EVERY jihadist.
Instead of “survived”, it sounds more like “clinging to life”. The would-be murderer’s hanging/rotting corpse should be food for the daws.
He plead guilty and is looking at 19 years.
Getting off too easy, I think the punishment should mirror the crime.
It wouldnt be enough for the perp to be thrown off a building in a way hell hear and feel his bones crushing, organs imploding, and then eventually die from internal bleeding.
19 yrs for destroying a boy and his family......there is no justice..
Why isn’t this POS, Emmanuel Aranda, already detailed to indentured servitude to pay the bills or just dead?
We will never slow down these outrages until we make the punishment swift and terrible.
It will never happen tough so our society will continue to crumble to total failure.
If this child survives, he will never be fully recovered.
The damage is just too extensive. This is in reference to physical damage. Emotional trauma cannot even be appraised just yet. Hopefully he and his parents will get the support they need to take the recovery as far as it can logically go. They must have good insurance.
there is no justice..
Paging Star Chamber, Star Chamber please pick up the Red Phone !
We haven’t had a “Justice System” for 50+ years.
All we have is a badly-broken “Legal System”.
I would recommend a different punishment, and it involves a wood chipper.
let’s see the extent of HIS survival skills in prison..
what’s the over/under?
Reminds me of a similar case in California. In early 1965, Robert Lee Massey was angry over breaking up with his girl friend and drove around looking for someone on whom to take out his anger. When he came upon a housewife unloading groceries from her car, he shot her. Although fatally wounded, the victim, Mildred Weiss, gave police enough information to catch the killer.
In Southern California, this story dominated the local news. Massey was convicted and sentenced to death. But the state supreme court threw out the death penalty so is sentence was commuted to life. "Life" translated to only about six more years, so about 13 years after he committed the crime, Massey was out.
Then the whole story repeated itself. Massey found a new girl friend, broke up with her, got mad, killed someone, and was caught. But this time, justice was served, and he was executed in 2001.
Rope, tree.
