About 500 civilians have been killed since the Syrian government offensive began nine weeks ago

In Syria, the devastation of continued air raids on Idlib is being laid bare.

Nearly 500 civilians - many of them women and children - have been killed since the Russia-backed Syrian government offensive began nine weeks ago.

On the ground, Syrian forces are being accused of conducting a scorched-earth policy of destroying crops.

Power in Idlib mostly rests with a jihadist faction known as Tahrir al-Sham. It has roots in al-Qaida and is internationally designated as a terrorist group, but Turkey nonetheless maintains ties to it to project influence. Turkish soldiers have set up a dozen military outposts inside the Idlib enclave—one of several Turkish military incursions into this corner of Syria over the past few years—and they also work closely with Tahrir al-Sham’s local rivals.

#1: "Assad is close to cleaning out the nest of Islamic vipers that McCain and Obama encouraged."

This is war as it should be waged—not waged by the New York Times. No sentimental hand wringing for the "lil chilluns" (aka "junior terrorists").

Obama Kerry and McCain were also very successful in creating an Iranian Russian axis in the Middle East. Russia thinks it can control Iranian aggression towards Israel. They may be able to... for awhile.

Quite correct - the jihadis are an existential threat to Christians, Alawites, Druze, Shia and moderate Sunnis. They need to be eradicated

Assad needs to finish the job, and then welcome back the MILLIONS of Syrians who do want to go home.

...and yes, there are millions who want nothing else but to return, they’re mostly in Lebanon, not the 35 year old, balding, Sudanese types, in Europe, claiming to be Syrian ‘children’.
