Price lists are not really fesable for hospitals. there are just too many variables.
There can be prices for some seervices but not for all.
I had a knee operation last year. List price was 25k. Insured price was 2500. Wonder which price would be listed?
For common tests and procedures it’s easily done.

The irony is that many who want transparency also think more insurance competition is a key to reduced costs.
If the hospital charges every insurer the same then the insurers have no way to differentiate themselves and maybe offer lower rates.
But if you have 10 insurers, each negotiating a different price with the hospital, which one should be posted as the "transparent" price?

Horse-hockey! Those same hospitals sure as hell know how to write up a cost and give out precise bills to patients.

From what I understand. There are other countries that list there prices and have no problems doing so. I have always thought it was wrong that hospitals can charge whatever they want, and the bills from third parties keep coming almost forever.
I remember when you could go to the emergency room and get one bill. Maybe a second for an x-ray. You pay it, and that was it. It is not like that anymore.
