Roll Out Those Lazy, Hazy, SNOWY Days of Summer
American Thinker.com ^ | June 24, 2019 | Brian C. Joondeph

Nat King Cole recorded “Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer” way back in 1963. In “Those days of soda and pretzels and beer,” summers were hot, and the only thing frosty was the beer. Not so much this summer.

The summer solstice passed a few days ago, the longest day of the year with the most sunshine. Only a couple of weeks before July 4th, thoughts are on hitting the beach or pool, with the only worry being about whether sunscreen is going to save your life or kill you.

But not this year. Portions of Colorado are under “a winter weather advisory this weekend” as reported by the Denver Post, with “snowfall expected in the mountains.” Wait a minute, it’s officially summer, isn’t it?

This is not just a few snow flurries. “Snowfall of 2-6 inches is expected this weekend for altitudes about 9,000 feet, and slush could accumulate along mountain passes. Some road closures have been issued due to adverse weather conditions.” Such a forecast is common in January, but not in late June.

Steamboat had almost two feet of snow, as reported by CBS News. CNN chimed in, noting, “The last time the city saw snow this late was on June 17, 1928.” Almost a century ago.

Yeah, but it’s hot in FL and apparently in Greenland as well since all the snow pack there is supposedly gone. Or something. Still plenty of snow in the Sierras right now and July is only a few days away. END OF SNOW!!!! alert!

Here in PA we’ve noticed it’s been an unusually damp spring and a rather cool June. My bedroom has windows on 3 sides, plenty of southern sunshine, and I’m still waking up chilly. No need for the a/c all day and by nighttime the winter jammies and blanket are needed.
Feels more like April.

Pretty much the same here in eastern Washington. The last 2 weeks have felt like spring with temps in the 70’s and blustery winds. Only a couple days in the 90’s.

You have a coach in your living room? How big is your living room that it even fits in?

I am sorry, but I couldn't resist. I know you meant couch.

Perhaps she meant her living room in her coach.

Most of the “old snow” in Colorado was the type you shoved up your nose. Guess Mother Nature is jealous and just showing who’s in charge out there.

Let’s have a “Donner’s Pass Dinner for Liberals” to celebrate.

Bon appetite!!

“Feels more like April.”

Same here in my part of Virginia.
Not only cooler but low humidity, which I love, and unusually damp.
A nice breeze blowing day and night.
Nights are cool enough I have to put on a light jacket when I head outside for a smoke.

When I lived in Steamboat one year I saw it snow on July 4th.

Feels more like April.

We had 10 inches of snow during the last week of May in Colorado Springs. The outdoors temperature now isn't anywhere near "warm."

Apparently, the only place in the Northern Hemisphere it’s been a warm Spring is Greenland. At least, that’s according to the warmists.

All due to extra water vapor released by El Nino. Which was caused by sunlight heating the less mixed equatorial waters. So sunlight gets rejected by ocean and we get rain, humidity and clouds. Humidity makes it feel warmer in places that are normally hot and dry this time of year. Clouds makes it cooler where ever that water vapor energy gets released as rain or snow. Opposite happens during La Nina. Currents carry that sunlight energy poleward and down into the deep ocean. Warming the oceans.

In Western WA … actually in process of getting AC installed right now, but we had to turn the heater on last night. So far this year, we have had about 3 weeks over 70, but usually have the heater off for the summer. Not this year.

In northern Illinois the weather constantly alternates along the whole spectrum from glorious to can’t suck too much. June has pretty much blown all month with rain and cool.

Cool mornings here in west central FL too. 74 this morning. It’s usually high 70s before dawn this time of year. We’re having normal daily highs in the upper 80s and low 90s but the temps drop off quickly after sundown.

I’ve been following video journals of people currently walking the Pacific Coast Trail. Those in the Sierras are having a tough time because of the snow.
