In honor of Pride Month, the NOPD has made available to its officers a special badge bearing the multi-colored Pride symbol. The badge is available for officers to wear during the month of June, recognized as Pride Month, as well as during the city’s annual Decadence Festival in September.

There was a time about 30 years ago, my wife and I would go to NO for a weekend getaway. We’d go there 2 or 3 times/year. Usually, we’d stay at that Hyatt there near the dome. We could easily and safely walk down Canal St to Bourbon St and back without any issues at all. We’d sometimes take the paddleboat dinner off the Riverwalk or just an early evening stroll along the river....or maybe take in the aquarium. Unfortunately, those days are just a fading memory and looonnnng gone.
Now? We wouldn’t get within 50 miles of the place even armed to the teeth....too many ferals running loose, too many murders and way too much petty crime.
Only a queer would wear that.
