DUBAI, United Arab Emirates One person was killed and seven others were wounded on Sunday in an attack by Iranian-allied Yemeni rebels on a Saudi airport, Saudi Arabia said. The strike came as the American secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, traveled to the country for talks on Iran.
Regional tensions have flared in recent days. The United States abruptly called off a military strike against Iran last week in response to the shooting down of an unmanned American surveillance drone.
The Trump administration has vowed to combine a maximum pressure campaign of economic sanctions with a buildup of American forces in the region. A new set of sanctions on Iran is expected to be announced on Monday.

That is why we need to continue to have good relations with Saudi Arabia.
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
In reality, the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.
And we are guilty of supporting the Saudis because they are brutal with the Yeman folk. As I remember there was both a north Yemen and another one. Always screwed up. Enough to say let Allah sort it out.
The enemy of my enemy is a possible ally.
These were terrorists supported by Iran:
“Iranian-allied Yemeni rebels”
Right after the 9/11 Saudis killed over 3,000 Americans and caused over $3 trillion in material damage. GW Bush went on a rant how Islam was “the religion of peace” and then invaded and defanged Iraq which was at the time the greatest external threat to the Saudi regime. Another 3,000 Americans were killed and tens of thousands more were physically and psychologically maimed. Of the course the Bush family had became incredibly wealthy in the oil business dealing with the Saudis. Now Iran is the biggest external threat to the Saudis. Why not ask or induce the Americans to fight another war and destroy another Saudi nemesis. See the pattern?
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend”
.......
Osama Bin Laden used to be America’s friend
If we weren’t running deficits every single year 10% over what we make, we would face ZERO need to care about this other-side-of-the-world garbage.
But since the Saudis force the rest of the world to accept US dollars, we HAVE to.
We’re PISS BOYS.
Mercs..?
Anyway, we forced ourselves into this and it HAS to stop.
The first step is go get our spending under control.
As other Freepers have observed, the KSA is an ally of convenience, just like the U.S.S.R. became after the Nazis invaded them during WWII. Once the Nazis were defeated the old political fault lines re-emerged and the Cold War commenced in earnest. The overwhelmingly majority of Freepers recognize that Islam is totally incompatible, i.e., hostile, to Western Civilization.
Based upon readings, I think the rest of the Muslim world, including Sunnis, despise the Saudis as an arrogant race. The KSA military has been unsuccessful in putting down the Yemeni revolt. Egypt is dependent on largess from the KSA to keep its people fed. Couple this with the stronger desire, and intellect, to prevail exhibited by Iran (Shia), I suspect that Iran will eventually prevail over the KSA. Plus they have Russia and Red China as their allies. It is hard to foresee a positive outcome for the West.
Man, Trump has those Iranians shaking in their boots now. They know they better behave or all...........well, they know nothing will happen.
Countries do not have friends, they have interests.
It is in our interest to eliminate the threat from Iran.
It is in the Saudis’ interest to have America spill its blood to eliminate the threat from Iran.
Osama and the Saudis are fundamental Muslims, and should not be friends with us Infidels.
Muslims making friends with us infidels is forbidden in a least 3 places in the Koran.
The Koran is the word of Allah given to Muhammad via the angel Gabriel.
Muslims are allowed to deceive us Infidels,if it furthers the interests of Islam. It is called taqiyya. - Tom
You cant possibly believe thats a good thing.
In my rather uniformed opinion we have have nothing but bad options in that region. The trick is to pick the least bad one.
And the Saudis put a lot of money into our colleges. I believe that money might have helped change the pro Jewish attitude in some of those colleges. - Tom
Why couldn’t’ we run a Fast and Furious gun operation to the Middle east like we did in Mexico?
Seriously, when we went into Iraq and I got to see the different factions, I was hoping we would forget about nation building and pull out, and arm the Kurds to the hilt, and let the Kurds , Shias and Sunnis fight it out for control of that area. - Tom
