Why would Trump waste his time giving Congress 2 weeks to fix loopholes when they have done nothing but drag their feet for years? Does he really expect anything to get done?
...and is Trump expecting Congress to do anything but acknowledge and give amnesty to the illegals already here? Trump won’t close the border, he’s deporting less than even Obama, and he thinks Congress that hasn’t done anything but complain will do something that might be construed as helping him?

As long as there are hundreds of politicians (and other *ssholes) bellowing, "we have to protect our IMMIGRANT families" .... (NOT lawbreaking IMMIGRANT families) this country is doomed.

Perhaps he realized the raids had been compromised by the leaks and pulled the plug. Media would be positioned at every site to broadcast the gestapo Ice Units destroying innocent immigrant families real time. a public relations nightmare.
Perhaps was all a head fake to shine light on the cockroaches in his enforcement departments. Also it makes him look cooperative and reasoned while being willing to work with the dems for a solution. He announced the intention to deport, now he can strike at any time without further warning. With the public word out perhaps some will self deport and possibly not risk the illegal entry in the first place. I can’t see how he loses anything by this delay.
